Best of Both Worlds Kitchen

This charming Victorian home sequestered off the beaten path in midtown was in need of a kitchen to match its charm. The room previously had a small dining nook which felt superfluous given the proximity of the family dining area so we decided to reappropriate the space into a bar, replete with a hydraulic swing-out window where drinks can be served onto the lovely outside patio which boasts views of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. We visually bisected the room by introducing an archway to separate the light, airy kitchen cabinets from the dramatic black cabinets used in the bar area. This truly monochrome palette is softened with thick wooden shelves, refinished oak floors and a gentle Carrara marble countertop and backsplash.
