Private Residence, Santa Cruz, CA

Stripe was approached in 2016 by a local couple wanting a makeover for their kitchen, dining room and living room. Whilst the space already had great light and a sensible layout, they wanted their 1950's ranch home to reflect their personal style. The kitchen had a major transformation with a confident shade of blue for the cabinets, linear subway tile backsplash, and new quartz countertops.  (See before & after photos below). The brick fireplace got an update with black paint and the addition of a rustic mantle.  The dining area was tied back into the eclectic living space with new man-made plank flooring throughout which was a great solution given the requisite that it would be resistant to the large family dog. The family room is now a cozy oasis with soft neutrals and bohemian touches, like palm prints above a mid-century inspired sofa and geometric rug. This once run of the mill home now has style to spare, making it the perfect space for our clients.

Design Process

For residential projects, we often begin with a shared Pinterest board. From the imagery and conversations we have with clients, we are able to go straight into modeling 3D options for them. For this home they chose an option that closely resembles the final product.

With a few changes, we were able to create the version that best fit our client:
